Ilkley & District Arts Federation

The Arts Federation is made up of numerous societies and associations in Ilkley, who meet to promote each others' events. The Federation obtains funding from Bradford Met, to financially support its members and to promote on occasions other "imported" special events, and an annual Autumn Arts Festival.

On behalf of the Federation, an arts listing "Go To It" is published monthly.

The Friends organise a series of monthly lectures on art amd history, on the first Thursday of each of the months of Setember to June inclusinve. Concerts take plave monthly over the period Sept/Oct/Nov and Jan/Feb Mar. Friends obtain invitations to previews with wine in the upstairs gallery.

The overall aim of the Society is to raise awareness of matters historical by organising a series of lectures of wide subject and chronological interest. Yorkshire Operar Soap, founded by singing teacher and director Pamela Cotton, is based on workshops she created for singers during her professional international singing career. Students are coached through individual lessons and workshops to perform classical opera in the original language, not just learning to sing, but how to interpret and project roles.

The Ilkley Literature Festival is celebrating 25 years of promoting live literature with a full calendar of events throughout 1998 In 1999 ILF will present one large-scale summer festival - dates to be announced - in Ilkley, and a series of outreach events throughout West Yorkshire.

Cantores Olicanae

Cantores Olicanae are a choir of around 50 singers based at St Margaret's Parish Church, Queen's Road, Ilkley. The choir's musical director is Robert Marsh. The choir normally gives five concerts each season, two with orchestra, and participates each year in the Ilkley Arts Festival.

Concerts for the remainder of the 2007/8 season, both at 7.30 p.m.at St Margaret's, are as follows.
  • Saturday 8 March: The Passion according to St John - J. S Bach. Cantores Olicanae with Manchester Camerata
  • Saturday 14 June: Summer Concert, featuring the Sapphire Saxophone Quartet.
