Yorkshire Day

 

The Festival commences on Sunday 1st August with a declaration in the Town Hall by the Town Crier at 11.15 a.m. followed by a Brass Band Concert by the Clifton & Lightcliffe Band. in the Winter Gardens.

 

Also in the Winter Garden will be a "Yorkshire Chutney Competition" ans "Design your own Pastry"

Additional events will be added to the website as and when they are confirmed.

Starring "Ken Dodd"

‘Happiness Show’

 KEN DODD is not only one of Britain’s funniest comedians, but he’s also a true comedy legend, icon and national treasure who has been entertaining us for over 50 years.

Come and enjoy his famous ‘Happiness Show’ and you’ll be absolutely discumknockerated (that’s Knotty Ash for ‘over the moon’) by a truly tattifelarius evening of laughter and songs presented by a comic genius.

Enjoy a fun-filled variety show for all the family, with guests, non-stop gags and a selection of songs in celebration of

over half a century of hilarious of ‘Happiness’ from ‘The Squire of Knotty Ash’.


This annual show, held in the Kings Hall  is put on by 'Friends of Kings Hall' and is always a sell out commencing at 7.30 p.m.

Preceded by Reception in the Winter Garden at 6.45 p.m.

57th Annual Ilkley Flower & Vegetable Show


Sat 7th August 2010 at the Clarke Foley Centre

The Show is open to the public from 1.30 p.m.   

The Ilkley Flower Show Society again has its annual show in mid August for people aged 5-90 !

Financed by a Coffee Morning and local sponsors, there are over 60 special prizes to be won. Also the society gives cash prizes in all classes, as well as cups and trophies.

Not all classes are for flowers and vegetables. In addition there is a Floral Art, Home Craft and Children’s section. Homecraft includes bread, cakes, preserves, knitting, needlework, handpainted china and craft work.

British singer, pianist and guitarist Mike Sanchez is one of the most exciting and charismatic performers of Rhythm & Blues and Rock 'n' Roll in the world today. His indelible image as a frenetic front man, pumping powerful boogie-woogie from the piano in a soaking suit, has won him fans from all over the world and attracted a following from many famous rock and blues legends who have lined up to work with him.

Mike spent four years as a full-time member of Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, fronting the band alongside Georgie Fame, Beverly Skeete, Albert Lee, Andy Fairweather-Low and Eddie Floyd on their annual world tours.

"The Great Pretender"

In this tremendous one man show, Steve Littlewood draws on his 25 years experience as a musician, performer, and entertainer to present what is largely recognised as the most authentic Freddie Mercury tribute show in the business. Now in his 9th year, Steve Littlewood is still ....

Part of Ilkey's big weekend of free music, picnicking and partying. It all takes place under a big top at the Riverside Gardens.

 Dominic and his brilliant band are again topping the bill at the Latino Cabaret weekend on Saturday 21st August.

Also appearing once again are "Tre Tenori" who will bring a touch of light opera and songs from the musicals which were so popular last year.

Throughout the year there are guided walks organised covering the many historical aspects of Ilkley. These have been running for many years and always prove to be very popular.

Continental Market

Commencing Friday 6th, 7th & 8th August - 3 full days.

As usual the Grove will be closed for that period allowing you to enjoy a traffic free experience while you browse and shop. 

Various Bands will be appearing on all market days at the Bandstand to entertain you while you shop and relax:
